Pedro has more than 30 years of experience in finance and academia. He previously joined Atrium Investimentos as a Senior Partner and Chief Economist after his tenure as a Professor of Finance at UCLA Anderson School of Management from 1996 to 2009.
He was a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, a research fellow of the Center for Economic Policy Research, and he served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, and Management Science. During his tenure at UCLA he consulted for the hedge-fund industry with major players like Soros and BGI, and since he returned to Portugal and to Nova School of Business and Economics, he headed and fundraised the new campus project, being also active in the PE and VC space, and holds seats at several investment committees. His academic publishing with world-class economists stands him apart in academia, and gave him a regular seat for advice with IMF/ECB teams in Portugal during the sovereign debt crisis of 2011. He studied Economics at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and holds a PhD in Finance from INSEAD.
